How It Works
First, fill the bottom chamber of the Moka Pot with water up to the safety valve. Then, fill the filter basket with freshly ground coffee (medium-fine, slightly coarser than espresso), leveling it gently without pressing. Next, assemble the Moka Pot by screwing the top chamber on tightly. Place it over medium-low heat with the lid open. As the coffee begins to rise into the upper chamber, reduce the heat if needed to maintain a gentle flow. Once you hear a gurgling sound or the coffee starts to sputter and turn lighter in color, remove the Moka Pot from the heat immediately. For a more balanced extraction, stir the coffee in the upper chamber before serving. Using hot water in the bottom chamber can help shorten brewing time and reduce bitterness.
